Krishna-Kuvalayapeeda Kalamkari Frame
Story depicted on this hand painted Kalamkari frame :
Kansa decided to send his faithful elephant, Kuvalayapeeda, to fight Krishna and Balarama. Seeing Krishna, Kuvalayapeeda tore open his shackles and charged towards him. He climbed the stage where Krishna was standing , grabbed him with his trunk, and was about to throw him on the ground when Krishna slipped out of his grip and quickly hid behind his hind legs. Seeing Krishna slip out, Kuvalayapeeda raised his leg to crush him, but he again escaped unhurt. Seeing the ferocious elephant-demon, Balarama rushed to save his brother. Casting a cruel glance at the brothers, the elephant charged towards them with his huge tusks. Krishna and Balarama firmly grabbed each of his tusks and broke them into pieces. As the elephant fell on the ground, the brothers killed him with his own tusks.
